Statistics: Russia’s Jan–Aug population decline falls by 25%
MOSCOW, Oct 20 (PRIME) -- Russia’s natural decline of population decreased by 24.8% on the year to 319,500 people in January–August, the Federal State Statistics Service said in a statement on Friday.
In the period, the number of births decreased by 2.5% on the year to 850,200 people, while the number of deaths fell by 9.8% to almost 1.17 million people.
The service also expects the number of births to continue falling year-on-year until 2027 when it should amount to 1.140 million and natural decline of population should stand at 703,000 people. After 2027, the number of births should start rising each year and reach 1.426 million babies in 2045, while the amount of deaths should contract slightly to 1.828 million people in the year.
